Yes i know it's the middle of summer but there are various offers on the Diadora chili extreme road boot, most of them half price due to the importer stopping bringing them in, and just wondered if anyone has a pair and what they think of them, and I can't remember C+ doing a review of these? Or perhaps they did and i missed it!

Help!! [:D]

SIZE IS EVERYTHING! or at least that's what my LBS tells me.

  • It's June. Who can remember back far enough to remember winter boots.

Best winter boots I've seen are from Lake or Gaerne - got a pair of Gaerne ones from Wiggle a while back for œ30 reduced from œ120 on ebay - haven't had the chance to wear them yet!
  • i've used them for a couple of months earlier in the year ( and once last week!). kept my feet dry and warm, though water does still seep down the legs from the top of the cuff.
  • I got some of the diadora boots. nice and warm, plenty comfy. make sure you get the ones with the pull cord top as they are better at keeping water spray out.
Bit tight on the old sizing though, i went up 2, maybe 3 euro sizes to get some that felt ok width wise.

    i'd buy them again

Thanks Steve for that. Was going to go up 1 size but maybe this should be 2 sizes after your info. My Sidi Energies are 45s.

Depends what you want out of them...

I use the Shimano version (MT90) which is basically a Goretex walking boot with Vibram SPD sole.

Very comfortable, if a little heavy. But if you tour and investigate stone circles, hill forts etc, they are brilliant.

I've got an earlier version, look the same but without the gaiter type cuff. Cost œ95 four years ago and worth every penny. Warm dry and comfy, without being too warm for short wet summer rides with very thin socks, I used them last week. I bought them at a LBS and needed to go up two sizes, try and get them from somewhere with an easy return.

  • I don't think I want to afford a pair! I seem to be happy with thicker socks and neoprene overshoes.
