Cycle parking at Victoria station

I'm catching a train tomorrow and would like to cycle to the station as it's only a 15 minute cycle and I'm back that evening. Are the bike stands on the platforms usually very busy, or do I stand a chance of getting a space? Apparently it has 24 spaces according to the website, which does not seem much for such a large station...

ta!

    Use two big locks and it won't.

    I wouldn't leave my bikes there for any length of time!

    There is public bike parking on Bressingham Place a two minute walk away - its pretty safe in my substantial experience of it.

    Hmm don't know what to do now! I do have two strong locks, which are likely worth more than the bike itself...but it is the only bike I have and I'd hate to have another stolen.

    Frustrating to have to get the bus or tube since it's such an easy cycle...bloody theiving scum!

    park it next to one that looks nicer, or has a worse lock, or both

    That actually wouldn't be too hard el presidente, the amount of times I see much more expensive bikes than mine locked up badly or with a crappy skinny cable lock...I feel like putting notes on them. I've gone evangelistic - lectured a fellow cyclist at my fitness class about locking up her bike well (it was a very nice road bike).

    I have to confess since the last one went the only place I've left it outside was the supermarket while I did half an hour's shopping - I do the fastest shop in the west when I know the bike is outside!

    I appreciate you do not want another bike stolen, but I think as long as you have done everything sensible you can to minimise the risk, you cannot let the risk of theft stop you going about your normal business, if you do then the criminals have won.

  • Have you registered your frame number?
    Saw an item on the news yesterday about how police in London are recommending cyclists do this online, as they are having a problem returning thousands of stolen/recovered bikes simply because they have no way of knowing who they belong to.
    Apparently if you register at;

    https://www.immobilise.com/register.ikml?id=1237]

    they can trace the bike back to you if it's recovered.

    Do 20yr old bikes have frame numbers? I've never been able to find one on mine (in my sig), and if the hub is original the bike was born back in the 80s!

    Now no laughing that I think someone would want to steal my elderly 3-speed, because the last one was just as old, singlespeed and some bit of scum still nicked it...
