Spesh Sirrus shifters / brakes

I'm looking at getting a new Spesh Sirrus to replace my DiamondBack MTB as my daily commute, but I have a couple of questions.
I really like how with the Shimano (EZ Fire I think?) shifters on my DB, it's possible to change down 3 cogs with one push of the thumb, which is great for when approaching junctions. Can you do this with the shifters on the Spesh? Or does 1 push = 1 cog and that's it?
Also, does anyone know why some 2006 Sirrus models were available with disc brakes but the 07 models don't seem to be? Just curious, as I quite fancy trying discs...
I've noticed on the American website they have an additional Sport model in white, which looks much nicer than the horrible black and red colour scheme of the UK Elite model.
Does anyone in the UK import US spec bikes?
Also, if I buy a bike from the US, will it cost much to have it converted to right hand drive?
(Just kidding, lol!) [:p]
Any insights from experienced Sirrites appreciated!
Thanks!

Specialized UK control the distribution of the bikes into the UK - it's not that attractive for anyone to circumvent them and you don't get things like warranty and tech support. The decisions on which models to import are taken a long time in advance to plan production and shipping, so the chances of getting something outside that is pretty slim - they'll be starting to plan/build for 2008 model-year bikes already.0
