Low Seat height /handling

Any of you taller riders using a lower than ideal seat height for handling reasons? I ( i am 6'2")was wondering about this because I have really poor handling skills but if I lower my saddle by 2cms I notice a huge improvement. I'm just trying to decide if the loss of power is worth it. I can see the difference across the board - sudden crosswinds that would normally cause me to wobble, descending and cornering - its really like night and day. If you have any experience of this I'd be interested in your feedback.

That simply shouldn't be the case regardless of handling skills - something else isn't set up right on your bike it should fit and handle correctly. Look at stem length to start with if you are too stretched out. I'm also 6'2", this is really "above average" rather than tall these days and fitting a bike off the shelf should be straightforward.

2cm is a an awful lot to lower a saddle by.

I like to lower mine by a few mm from the ideal pedalling-height to make my backside more comfortable, but even that is enough to reduce power and make life tougher for my knees - so it's not something I would recommend. 2cm would be terrible.

You need to find some other solution to the handling problems, even it means buying a different frame. Hopefully just some small tweaks or a change of stem will be all that's required, though.
