More tarmac!!

When I was in Argentina they were tarmaccing lots of Ruta 40 and now it seems another famous touring road is to have the same treatment.
China is to tarmac the road to Everest base camp.

    Just returned from India, and you should see how worried they are about the road damaging the ecosystem.

    It's a dilemna isn't it - to find the wildest places you probably need to get off-road, it just reduces the opportunities where more and more roads are being metalled. Even parts of the GibbRiver road in the Kimberley are tarred now - mostly on steep hills it has to be said - won't stop me hopefully exploring that option next June or so.
