As it is Bike Week there is a Time Trial organised by the local cycling club.
It's a 10 miler, so thought I would give it a go.

Never done anything like this before and not a member of any clubs.
What should I expect ?
Any tips ? Go out hard or build it up each mile ?

Thanks

Don't go out too hard at the beginning, try to keep it at a fairly even pace then for the last 2 miles or so go balls out so you've got nothing left when you cross the line, then collapse.
  • Listen to the starter, he should give your a 30 second warning, get into your pedals, and get comfortable.
Trust the guy holding your bike at the start.
Then you should get 10 seconds and 5 seconds, This is when you prepare yourself for the off.
I agree with pacing yourself. Don't go eyeballs out too early.
If you get passed don't grab the wheel, bad form. But you could try to stay with them, not to close though. Unless they are flying of course, then just let them go.
As it's your first don't expect too much. Just enjoy and learn from the experience.
