Hi

I have a frame with no bosses for a bottle cage. Has anyone suggestions for how to attach a cage to the seattube without welding?
I'm not sure if zip ties will stay in place with the weight of a full bottle.

cheers

Richard

Minoura do a bottle cage mount that comes with a pretty robust stainless-steel band - it does stick-out a little so fitting two might be a bit tight for space. Model is a BH-95 and is œ5.99 from Wiggle - afraid wiggle Wiggle links don't cut and paste - look under bottles and cages

The Elite kit works fine and it fairly easy to fit. I relied on it for a four day ride in the height of last Summer and really appreciated having two bottles to hand.

Depending on how much you care about appearances, you could use jubilee clips. About 20p each from an old fashioned hardware shop or tractor parts place.

Otherwise, you can easily make your own from thin aluminium sheet. Get some small offcuts from your friendly local engineering workshop. Ten minutes work with tin snips, file and a drill and your uncle's Bob.

I used a couple of suitable sized hose clips to hold a bottle cage on the down tube of my previous hack bike. I didn't have any problems with this arrangement, though it is likely to scratch the paintwork on a nice bike.

Jubilee clips = hose clips (should have made that clear).

    Functional, but not pretty.

Or if you can spare the seatpack, you could get a double cage mount that attaches to the back of your seat.
Minoura also make a handlebar cage mount (SJS Cycles), though I couldn't get mine to work without compromising the integrity of my handlebars.
