Hello,Iv'e just started a new job that is
within my cycling distance (40 mile round trip)
I have a Cannondale R500,not the best commuter but can't afford a new bike yet!!
I normally ride for general fitness at weekends and evenings
but would like a fairly sleek but also comfortable saddle for everyday rides!
Any suggestions or advice would be great!
Thanx!![:D]

Get the best saddle on the market,
Specialized Toupe!! I had one for about a year and had no problems with it!!
Best œ70 I've ever spent.
I've done a 130 miler on it and my a*s was fine, no saddle sores or back ache.

Very individual topic.
Lots of cyclo-tourers ( including me) have a Brooks saddle, some use a B17, I prefer the Proffesional as it is sleek as well as comfortable .
The choice is yours.

My favourite is the Bodyfit Ascent but saddles are a personal thing. Previously I tried a Brooks and a Fizik Arione and found them really uncomfortable.
Ideally you should try out various ones before you buy.0 -
Specialized Avatar for me. At œ40 cheaper than the Toupe which I think is more race orientated. It has a small amount of gel padding and comes in 3 sizes. Any Specialised will be able to measure your bum for you.

Having tried 2 saddles before I got a Brooks Team Pro saddle - I would recommend the brooks saddles BUT and a big but, you must give it time to brake in otherwise look to other saddles - in your case with a 40 miles a day you are probably looking at 1 to 3 weeks brake in period.

Another vote for the Specialized Avatar. I use them on my mountain bike bike and my road bike.0

Got my buns measured on the LBS Specialized bun measuring jig. Turns out I should ride for Team Hugh Jass as I required a 155mm seat. Got the Spesh Alias 155(mm). Felt a little unusual at first but I haven't suffered from numb bits or sore arse since. Heartily recommended. Oh, I have a 30mile round trip commute. Hope this helps....
