Mixing brands!!

Fitting a Specialized Toupe saddle to a Trek with full Bontrager bits.

Is this just wrong?
Or is it acceptible?

I have a toupe on a trek with full bontrager bits and I don't think much of it.

apparently it is a bloke thing to want parts all the same brand. I have read that particularly with grooming products a bloke will buy one and then buy others from the same brand - even though there may be better individual products out there. Women, apparently have it sussed and will buy best of breed products regardless of the brand.

so go for best of breed and who cares if the don't 'match' (and the toupe is definately a best of breed product)

In the good old days everyone had custom bikes - so typically you'd choose everything seperately. Was great agonising over which bars to get etc...

Did end up costing a bit more, but bikes were very individual. Now lots of them are clones.

I wouldnt think twice about mixing brands.

I've a Trek bike with Specialized saddle and tyres. I Got a snarky comment off some other customer in a bike shop.

I've got a non Trek bike with Bontrager stuff, Specialized Stuff, USE Stuff and so on.

I've got a halfords bike[V] with campag wheels[:p] and a bontrager saddle[:0] so no it isnt wrong!! as long as it looks good!![;)]

On one of my bikes I have Campag drive chain and Shimano brakes

whatever turns you on.

don't care about looking good, it just needs to work..... for you

Decided to go for it and fit a white Toupe (or Toupe Gel) to go with my shiny white bar tape[:D]
