Should be ok. But get a letter from your doctor saying you're fit to do it too. While in England they leave it up to you to enter organised races, in France you need a letter from your doctor to say its ok. Although when I forgot mine for the Lille half marathon, my London Cycling Campaign card was mistaken as a cycling club card and therefore proof I was fit enough to compete.
Not sure that helps - but something to consider
Thanks

In France you need a medical in order to get your race license - provided you have a BC UK race license, then they automatically assume that you meet the 'medical' requirements.0

I'm not sure that it will be that easy, but i could be wrong. There are two main organisations for racing, first FFC which is the main one, being the French federation, and harder racing, then there is Ufolep which promotes lots of sports and is more like BCF racing in that there are loads of local events and categories 1 to 4. I had a look on the www.ufolep.org site but the department 87 Limousin link seems to be down. If you can find the calendar you could ring the organisor and check out the deal. The Ufolep events have enter on the line, not sure about FFC since it is always done by my club, but they will be freaked out by a BCF licence I imagine.
You could find a local club and contact them directly.
I have an (english) cycling friend in La Souterain which is about 40k away who might be able to help you out.
