This is a rather detail-focused question but can anyone tell me if the BE-RE600 and BR-RE700 brake blocks are the same? As far as I can see, they are the same except for the groove pattern. I am looking for blocks for pre-2000 Chorus brake shoes and have been using the BR-RE600 model. The problem is that I can only find the BR-RE700 model for sale!

Thoughts appreciated as ever.

I'm pretty certain they are different - but I've never tried fitting one in the other.
The BR-RE600 are quite widely available: try Parker International or SJS Cycles for example. Google might throw up more options.

they are differentr and not interchangeable.

the 600 has a rounded profile front and rear to fit older holders as well as the v pattern, the 700 has a straight but not quite 90 degree profile at the back to fit newer block holders. no idea why they changed!

parkers is the place to go, you can also get compatible to 600 blocks from parkers made by BBB.

BBB make both 600 and 700 compatible blocks.

I'd rather get trampled by a herd of baby elephants than use Shimano.

The older I get, the better my power to weight ratio was.
