Michelin Pro Race Tyre

Hi Timoid
I really like my PR2's they are fast rolling and grip well in the dry, nice and supple too, if not at their highest pressure they roll well over imperfect surfaces. They are softish compound and are prone to cuts particularly on wet flinty roads, (but so are many tyres) I think there is always a trade-off between a good light race-tyre that rolls well and durability, you pay's your money!
Do a search here, this is often debated and there are many views!

+1 on what FF says. I really like them but they do cut easily. Recently had to bin my front after less than 200 miles, because of a long cut in the side wall that was all but right through[:(]0

I am now on my third set, used on a couple of bikes. The first two pairs (red) both cut quite badly after a few hundred miles although I am still using a pair after c.2500 miles with no problems.
My latest set (dark grey) have no cuts after 1000 miles use on the same roads - go figure?
They do seem to roll better than Carbons / Krylion I use through winter although I have no science to back this up
I am currently using Michelin Latex tubes with no issues at all although there are some new Vittoria tubes I may try (Evo - 55g) when I need to change.
I have no reason move away from the Pro Race but I do fancy trying the Schwalbe Ultremo next,if I can find some....

I'm happy with them too -
I read somewhere here that people use superglue to fix the cuts [:D] and it seems to work ok

I love them and they don't cut as easy as Spec All Condition Pro

Use the Pro Race 2's on my best bike and training bike.
No cuts in 4 months, roll real well and they are comfortable - first time I've moved up to 23c from 20's !
I've used Michelin's for years and have been happy with them.0 -
Similar to all the above - like them, have found they cut a bit on wet country lanes but not too much - wouldn't use them for a winter commuter but I suppose they aren't meant for that.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like I've found my summer tyres!

Buy them, ride them, love them! Cos you will if you get some believe me!
SIZE IS EVERYTHING! or at least that's what my LBS tells me.0 -
Sorry to be negative, but I`ve had 3 pairs now & each pair has been binned because of cuts.I have used them all year round in Cheshire/Derbyshire area.On the advice of my LBS I replaced them with Schwalbe Stelvio's on my best bike & 6000km later these are virtually cut-free.Would definitely get these again...just as grippy and roll just as well.0

As I said above, I have 1000 miles on my current set of Pro Race and have no cuts at all. This thread has got me thinking - the only difference between this set and the other two I have used which did suffer cuts is that I am now using latex tubes - coincidence?

I use em!
They stick like s**t to a blanket. I can almost get my knee down like Neil Hodgeson. Love em!
Only beef is that thay don't last long enough and cost a bloody fortune in France.
Only ever had to bin one once because of a cut.

Rich...I was using latex tubes when I got a cut on the side wall (way to big and deep to think about super glue, bin fodder)...no cuts at all on my rear tyre though....touch wood....after about 8-900 miles. Luck of the draw I supose.0

Mmmm... Pro Race 2. They're good. Buy some today.
I've always been a big fan of Open Corsa's and other open tubulars with a high tpi count, but they can be a bit a fragile. Thought I'd see what the fuss is about with the Mich's and I can report (early days mind) that they grip, and that they're fast rolling and somehow 'comfy' at 6.5 bar (I'm just under 10 stone).0
