Nike Altea Shoes (cleat mounting)

Just bought a pair of Nike Altea shoes and some Keo Classics to get me started with all this clipless malarkey. There are what I take to be the standard three Look mounting holes on the bottom of the shoe plus a sliding metal thing with four other screw holes for mounting other cleat types - picture http://www.bayviewcycle.com/Acc_Images_M_Z/Shoes/Nike/Altea_ShoeBttom_.jpg

Got the cleats fitted, they snap in and out fine, an absolute joy to pedal, but the metal doodad slides back and forth with an irritating rattle. Am I doing something wrong here?

  • I have a pair of the same shoes and I had the same problem. I effect temporary relief from it by using a screwdriver to push the plate as far forward as it will go and the plate then sort of lodges in that position. It will eventually work its way loose again but it does stop the horrible rattle. Hope that helps!
