I'm going to clean my chain tonight and relube it the lbs suggested I tried White lightening. Ive also picked my self up a copy of Zinn and he advises against their use, asaying that "chain life with them is very short (1,000 to 1,500 miles)".

What's peoples experience of wax lubes is he right and if I use it tonight, how easy is it to change at a later date?

If I had a baby elephant, who would take it for walks?

  • Horrible stuff. pain to put on. gets everywhere. pain to remove.
    and expensive to boot.

couldn't recommend a worse lubricant if i tried to.

I didn't like White Lightning at all - didn't seem to last long and was fiddly.

Rock n Roll Gold lube is much better IMO.

I'm left handed, if that matters.

When I used wax lube, I was getting a squeal from my chain, when I got home I cleaned all the wax off the chain and put ordinary lube on, the squeal went away. Now I avoid wax lube because it's rubbish.

I found wax lube great for keeping my drivetrain looking sparkly, but hopeless at keeping it lubricated.

Put a hump in your back
    Shake your sacroiliac
    And ride on

    Thanks Folks,
I'll use up the bottle I've got and by all accounts that won't be long, then get something else, any suggestions for a good dry lube?
