I don't want to spend much, maybe œ50. Something light and easy to carry as I'll be using it on trains mostly on my way to the PBP.

I've seen one that looks good to me:

Will I find anything better given my budget?

Thanks

    Much of a muchness really.
Though my vaude bag has outlasted a few of my friends as the zips are better quality (don't burst)

You may not need a padded bag if you're not trusting it to the delicate treatment of baggage handlers and the unpadded bags are much easier to store when you're on the bike.
Padded bags are difficult/impossible to fold up when not in use, maybe some insulated plumbing tubing stuff from the DIY sheds and an unpadded bag might be more useful.
On the other hand if you might fly in the future...
  • The padded one from Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Op look good - it's slightly smaller than normal. Most of the others available - Gill, Planet X etc are way too big. Plus airlines are becoming more stringent over size.

Life is Uncertain...........eat dessert first !
  • Planet X....œ49.99.....so big u can kip in it. I mean ferkin massive. How big? bigger than all the rest. Big. By the way did I mention it was BIG. and œ49.99?

Just a word of warning though. I bought a big huge PowerBar bike bag for my flight to Canada last summer. It was pretty heavy-duty and big enough to pack all my stuff around. The bike was OK on the way there, but big ring to bent all to blazes on the way back. In retrospect, I think I got off easy...

I'd recommend a box if you're going to be flying.

For flying I use a see through plastic bag and cardboard. This bag is for lugging my bike around on trains so I specifically want something light and not fecking massive.

I'll have a look at the Edinburgh bike co-op bag, hadn't spotted that one.
