Poland & Slovakia Tatras Mountains

Has anyone ever been to this region and enjoyed it here?Looks good but did you experience any difficulties language,safety or accommodation etc .Also could August be a possible washout/thunderrstorm risk

    visited this region a couple of years ago
    we ventured into slovakia as well

    we didnt have any problems
    dont expect english to be spoken in the areas outwith zakopane ect
    people in poland and slovakia couldnt be friendlier
    no probs with accomodation

    I was in the Tatras back in 2002, it's a very nice area, safe and friendly. It does get busy on the Polish side especially in Zakopane, which is just like many Alpine resorts in summer, very popular with walkers. You won't have any difficulty finding accommodation though, with many of the locals offering bed and breakfast in their own houses for about 25zl (less than a fiver - but this was five years ago).

    Also there 3 years ago with camper van, on Slovak side. Cheap people are freindly and helps if u have a bit of German, but make it clear that u are not German or Austrian. Beer is chaep lol

    Campsite was huge and allowed fires!

    Roads are good though driving is eratic
    They overtake on the brow of a hill etc on premise that thay cant see anything coming!

    Mountain resorts splendid but lower down accomadation was not too easy to find when we did our 2nd week on our own. Lovely people.

    Thanks for the replies..Instead of going alone,I have decided to do this route from Zakopane to Krakow over 7 days in 4 weeks time with Explore cycling.(sometimes I get a holiday company's intinery and do it myself)This is my first ever use of a holiday company for cycling.Has anyone any experience of their cycling trips?
