When buying replacement sealed bearings. Is there any benefit in paying the extra for stainless steel alternatives?
Albeit they will resist corrossion but will they not wear and brinel in the same length of time as normal steel bearings?

  • Buy a roller bearing headset and it will outlast the frame.

Nobody ever got laid because they were using Shimano

Forgive my ignorance but what is a 'roller bearing headset'?

Strange that no-one offers roller bearings for Aheadsets then? Roller-bearings use small cylinders as opposed to balls - in theory to distribute the loads more evenly, but in practise many wore no better than balls. Its not just stainless steel, but the quality of the sealing- I find sealed headset cartridge bearings suffer more from corrosion and wear rather than brinelling.

I have to replace my cartridge bearings every six months due to brinelling. Which is why I am asking if stainless would give a longer lifespan or should I take my forks out and apply more grease say every two months in the winter months?
