I wonder what the odds are on an Astana 1-2-3 at the Tour[?][:(]

Did you get planning permission for that sense of humour bypass?

what's happened in the Dauphine? Is it 1-2-3 for Vino, Kash and ???? What order?

    Herd of gnus?
    No! What's the news?

  • looks like vino then kash well ahead of the rest [edit for grammar], followed by dave z 30secs down; then menchov, cadel et al

Vino's TTing surprises me. I'm not trying to cast aspersions, though I know that whenever you talk about surprising performances in cycling people think doping.

But ignoring all that, I've just never thought of Vino as a true TTer, not like Millar or Zabriskie or Rogers, but somehow he still wins a long (slightly lumpy) TT! But how?

    Um....doping possibly?

Watching Kash catch George for 2mins was somehow sad, tho I guess I'm implying here Disco are cleaner than Astana. It's fair to say Vino has always been a good TTer (e.g. a podium in 2005?) and maybe this course just suited him and Kash more than...

..hell, I don't believe it myself.

Still, at least Vino and Kash (sounds like a sinister cartoon series) didn't manage to avoid a drugs test in last year's Vuelta eh?

What's that you say? They had to leave early in team cars as the Astana bus was full up with bidons? Seems very plausible to me.

Astana are going to ruin the Tour this year but at least the French gambling law has been upheld. I will sleep soundly.

Astana do have a very strong squad, so maybe 1-2-3 at the Tour is possible.

  • Pah! Never trusted vino. In rogues gallery of a sport he still stands out as untrustworthy.

At least the Chav man is going strong. Always a fan even of I did bail on picking him for my PTP.

He's always been a decent rider against the watch. In 05 he finished 3rd in both the opening and final time trials in the tour,he was 3rd last year in the worlds T.T. plus how many times has he broke away and held the field off doing lone attacks.

Early days yet - how many times have we seen a rider do well at the Dauphine then fail miserably at the Tour?
  • Jeez, we saw Savo and Mazzoleni riding strongly in that final Giro TT and now it's the turn of Kaschechkin and Vino. We didn't see this sort of level from Kasch at all when he was CA. Certainly he showed talent, but not this.

Odds probably gone down on an Astana 1-2-3 indeed.

Any news of...ahem...Rassmusen? He'd a fairly quiet giro I think.
