Mountain bike œ300 - œ350

Looking for a mountain bike or a hybrid bike with a top budget of œ350. I have been looking at trek bikes as i like the look of them but wondered if anyone had any other ideas/reccomendations as to what is the best deals for this price range.

I have a Specialised Hardrock which was around ¶œ300 new. It's good both on and off road. I don't think there's much difference between Trek, Specialised and Giant TBH.

I have a rock lobster from Merlin. Good though it is, you wouldn't get one at that price point, I'm afraid.

A Rock Lobster, no, but the Malt 1 in sale at 400 quid looks a fair deal!

Have a look at the link above...the tyax elite comes with raving reviews, so come the gt avalanche bikes. Personally, I would say look at treks as well (4300, 4500), but then I am totally biased!!!
