Can I have a lift?

Towing my 10 month old to nursery this morning, a small chubby boy on the pavement looks round at the trailer, smiles at me and then asks if he can have a lift.
I was expecting abuse like when people ask you for a backy,* but he seemed to totally genuine (and genuinely lazy), so I replied "Sure, but you might have to fight him for it".
It's funny, the trailer seems to bring out the smiley side of nearly everyone. The number of motorbikes that come alongside at the lights and have a chat about it is amazing.
*I even had some drunk suit clamber onto my rack on The Strand once, practically collapsing the back of the bike...

Those trailers are great fun. I've only ever hired one from a country park before. Woud love to get one for my youngest, but my wife would take some convincing it was safe to use it on the roads.0
