I go around it sometimes, but have been forced down towards piccadilly by an idiot car drivers before when I was actually wanting to go down parliament hill, sometime it doesn't make a blind bit of difference how good your road skills are!!!!!

I've been going through the middle because I don't think I am fast or confident enough for round the outside.

But I am getting p*ssed off with the cycle crossings (I go from Hyde Park to Constitution Hill cycle path). Cyclists don't keep to the left of the crossings as would make sense, they are all over the place, and I'm sure I'll have a bump there one day into one going the opposite direction - some of them ride straight at you. I almost feel like getting off and pushing.

Park Lane <- -> Constitution Hill on the roundabout. The timing of the lights makes it much faster particularly northbound.

EMD - if you were looking for the Parliament Hill turn off you must have been way lost...

Eastbound - Early morning thro the middle as the rossing onto Const' Hill is in your favour, but after 9 things seem to change with the timing of the lights so I go around.
Westbound - around everytime

On the way to work I go across the middle into Hyde Park, I usually have to wait until the other cyclists have gone because they go everywhere and ride straight at you. On the way home I ride down Park Lane and so stick to the road.

I go around the outside. All those cyclists are a nightmare on the cycle paths, there are so many crashes posted on here each year. It might seem intimidating, but you don't need to go nearly as fast as you think, it's one of the slower roundabouts because of the volume of traffic, just take your lane like in a car.

Going through the middle risks crashes and is a *lot* slower because of the traffic light cycle and the numbers of lights you need to cross at.

Interesting, I don't go through there very often. I used to go through the middle but yesterday I had an epiphany and thought "hold on surely the outside is much better?" and I was much happier with my choice

I can well believe it Bentmikey, I have to admit to standing on the crossing last night looking enviously at the cyclists who had the bottle to tackle the road. While I was faced with a load of cyclists coming the other way straight at me!

I wish I had the courage to try but I can see myself getting forced onto Picadilly instead of Constitution hill as suggested above. It was bad enough doing it when I had a car but at least I could keep up with the traffic then...

TN just take it step by step, you will find yourself getting faster and more confident and soon you will think you are ready to brave the outside.

Always round the outside, the middle is for horses......

I love coming off Park Lane heading towards victoria along the inner ring route, is a seriously quick stretch and you can usually overtake most of the cars!!!!!

Wah! I feel like I'm on my own in this thread! Does everyone go South-North and/or vice versa? Doesn't anyone go past it East-West and back? Wah! The underpass is the fastest part of my commute!

Well I braved HPC yesterday evening with the rest of the rush hour traffic. Thought it was only a matter of time before I crashed into someone at the cycle crossings so it was probably safer!

Planted myself in the middle of the lane which fed me around into the exit I needed, I was fine until I was turning off it towards Victoria, I did not realise how much speed I had picked up due to the slope and took the bend a bit faster and wider than I was comfortable with... Will remember that for next time!

Didn't like Park Lane though. Bus lane unsurprisingly chock full of buses and taxis and overtaking them wasn't ideal due to the fact that the cars in the other lanes treat it like a racetrack...I'll be approaching HPC from quieter streets from now on I think, and popping out at the end of Park Lane instead.

Haha! Was a bit of a stupid name to choose, bound to date, but I never put much thought into choosing usernames, I really should...

I imagined I would need to do lots of lane changing, but I didn't. No one tooted me either, but then the traffic really wasn't going that fast, I was keeping up really. It was honestly less stressful than going on the crossings and trying not to have a head on collision...

Middle - I only went through Hyde Partk Corner in rush hour on a few occasions when I accompanied the missus to her work in Victoria then went across to my old workplace in the City, but when the lights changed, it was like the Tour de France heading off along Constitution Hill. Hmmm. Now there's a thought...

has to be road although I haven't done HPC on bike, it is big and busy, I'll grant that but I always think that's helpful

My biggest and baddest is prob the one way through Swiss Cottage, shocking hill to climb (Belsize Road?) then join four lanes and cross the lot to loop back round to Adelaide Road

and up Tottenham High Road to join the Broad lane one way, oof, sir needs to get some fast going up the hill in full on traffic

Round the outside every time - Constitution Hill to Grosvenor Crescent.
