Waiting to turn right

When waiting to turn right on a bike, is there any difference to the way you position yourself in a car?
The junction near me is an odd one, you can either turn offside to offside or nearside to nearside depending on what the other driver is doing. I was waiting to turn right in the same position as I would in my old Micra, which never got me any complaints in the 3 years I used that junction in it, and yet a car wanting to turn right in the other direction (and yet not signalling so I can only guess by his positioning) tooted me and gave me an evil look even though he could easily have turned nearside the way I was. Car drivers not signalling has always been a peeve of mine and so I surprised myself by shouting back at him to use his indicator which seemed to surprise him in turn!
So is there a difference in the way you position yourself when waiting to turn right?

Thanks. I'm pretty good at working out ways of avoiding dangerous bits too, but this one is right next to where I live so I don't have a lot of choice with that one.

Situations like these are where you need to fight all your natural tendencies to worry about holding up people in motor vehicles and just focus one hundred percent on your own safety. Learn to totally blank out any beeping or shouting, eventually you will get to the point where it is literally in one ear and straight out the other barely registering on the way through.

Taken from "Janet and John learn Road Safety" also known as the Highway Code:
"59: On the right. If you are turning right, check the traffic to ensure it is safe, then signal and move to the centre of the road. Wait until there is a safe gap in the oncoming traffic before completing the turn. It may be safer to wait on the left until there is a safe gap or to dismount and push your cycle across the road."
