Can anyone point me in the direction of some info on planning a LEJOG cycle camp.
I would like to do this in September, and have the CTC stuff, but I can't find any info on how to actually go about planning the thing.
Any tips would be great.

Do this mean...... to camp while riding LEJOG
there are loads of web sites that list campsites in the uk
work out how far you can ,or want to, go each day, max and min.
Then find a campsite/B&B on your route and book it.
or join couchsurfing and warmshowers on the web and see if there are people who will put you up for a night.
good luck
george

My planning consisted of:

Selecting the start date.

Buying a large scale motorist's road atlas with campsites indicated on it.

Tear out the relevant pages and pack them in one's panniers

Buying a ticket to John O'Groats

Preparing a packing list for the panniers

Packing the panniers ten days before setting off

Fly to Greece for a week's family holiday immediately after packing the panniers...

I caught a train to Thurso knowing where the camp sites were en route to Land's End only as far ahead as I was likely to be able to ride in a day. I had a vague route drawn on the pages in pencil.
Occasionly some of the indicated camp sites turned out to be caravan only so I wild camped. Did it twice on my JOGLE and around four times on my LEJOG ride the previous year.
I budgeted for around 60 miles per day. If i did more then fine if I did less that was OK too. Max didtance in a day was 88 miles and the minimum was around 30.

Vernon forgets to mention that his LEJOG and JOGLE did not match his planning in way, shape, or form.
He is so cuddly and friendly everyone took him in and fed him.

Now that you mention it, I did get fed and watered more than a few times on my rides including:

Proffered tea and cake on arrival at camp sites in England and Scotland

Fed burgers at another camp site

Free beer in Tintagel, Tarbet and Penrith

Free wine nr Glasgow

Heavily subsidised beer food and pitch at Wrenbury - 6hrs drinking, pub meal one night in the camp site œ16 - great landlord.

Free pitch at Clovelly

Jumbo sized portions at mouse sized prices in a few chip shops

Fruit handed to me on departure from a camp site

Drinking a caravan dry in Somerset - took some doing - it was a five hour task [:p]

Free frame brazing nr Preston - thanks to George's mate

Bed and food at Preston on LEJOG and JOGLE - thanks George

I seem to be fly paper for good fortune [:D]
Your are set to have a wonderful time. My two rides were true adventures. I rarely knew where I'd end up at the end of each day's ride. I met lots of great people, had some great conversations, saw some wonderful views and had some strange encounters. The two rides have been the best two solo holidays that I've ever had if not the best holidays ever.0
