My goodness, the boy CAN actually ride fast on the road.

Now I will consider you a favourite for Londres Bradley. Good ride!

  • Certainly! He's finally shown why he's the world pursuit champion. Tour selection must be a certainty now.

GRENOBLE, France, June 10, 2007 (AFP) - British rider Bradley Wiggins of the Cofidis team won Sunday's 4.2km prologue for the Dauphine Libere Criterium.
Olympic and world pursuit champion Wiggins beat American Levi Leipheimer by one second with Kazakh rider Andrey Kashechkin and American George Hincapie, sharing third place, after finishing two seconds off the pace.
The 27-year-old, looking to prove his credentials ahead of the Tour de France, also won the time-trial at the Quatre Jours de Dunkerque (Four Days of Dunkirk) race last month.
Fellow Briton David Millar, one of the prologue favourites, trailed his compatriot by six seconds, as a violent storm hampered the early competitors.
Wiggins, a triple medal winner at the Athens Olympics, has made a good start as he bids to secure his place in the Cofidis team for the Tour de France which starts in London on July 7.
  • Top ride by wiggins

Anyone get the impression Levi has been in the wind tunnel [:D]

DM will still be on form for the TDF, that guy needs pressure to win

  • DM rode in crystal clear skies. He lost fair and square. The bad weather was only for the first few starters. Poor old Piepoli had a tumble.

Sure - And he might do the business in the TT later this week. Although I think he'll have a job beating Levi in that, but anyway....

Well done Wgiins- but why is Millar behind Valverde[?]

Yet again tornado Tom rides a solid prologue
  • Excellent ride by Wiggins. Looks like he should be considered a favourite for the London prologue after all.
  • Was Duffers really in the studio, or was it computer with samples of him saying "on that particular occasion", "taps the side of his nose" and a few riders names randomly thrown in?

I must admit, I loved his euro-style of saying Dave Z. Davide in an Italian way, brilliant.

Millar has been consistent when speaking about his goal for the season - the Tour prologue. Not surprising he did not win this one.
  • Fair play, Bradley did well, better than I expected any road.

That praying matis position - whilst effective - looks just awful and if you don't keep it is a low gear, then the bike swings all over the place.

Interesting comment by Wiggins after the prologue...
"This one was for pure specialists like George Hincapie." [?]

I think George is a fine TT'ist and has won a prologue or two in his long career, but a 'specialist??' - I think not. Nonetheless, good to see Bradley put in a good effort. I hope Levi hasn't overcooked his form too early - he didn't seem to be missing much today.
