Two bikes = two computers?

If you have two bikes, do people tend to go for two separate computers, or just two spoke sensors and a single transferrable monitor? I'm guessing two different complete set-ups, as (from what I can see) the wheel sensor unit on its own doesn't seem that much cheaper than a whole new set-up.

Just wondering...

It depends if you want the computer to log your 'total cycling miles', or 'total miles on each bike'

To be honest I'm not sure if you can buy the sensing equipment without the display, as you need the magnet and the fork sensor thing. I'd buy two of the same, and then if you want to log separate miles on each bike, use both. If you want to log your total miles use one display between the two, and keep one as a spare.

The other option is, like me, to have one bike and solve the problem!

I got two computers from Lidl a while ago for about a tenner, so that solved it for me.

Only worry is, they're solar powered, so I don't know if I'll be able to cycle in the dark!!!

I have a cateye astrale 8 that i wanted to use on two bikes. I bought a second mounting kit and set of magnets. It would only have been a couple of pounds more to but a complete new computer.

Go for the Polar CS200CAD, and buy another set of sensors. The Polar can be set up for 2 bikes si you can swap it between the 2 easily.

if you use GPS, you wouldn't need sensors and you can move it between any number of bikes. You will need additional handle bar mounts though.

Ive got 3 separate computers for each bike, a cheap raleigh one, a cheap Aldi one and a Cateye Micro. The Cateye says it can do 2 bikes but for quickness and simplicity I prefer separate computers.

If I had a baby elephant, who would take it for walks?

Generally as a mounting kit costs almost as much as a new computer, I'll get the computer as well keeping it as a spare.
    So I've got 3 Cateye astrales .

Garmin Edge 205/305. Use it on as many bikes as you like without a wire or magnet in sight.

If you've got Shimano Flightdeck compatible levers, you can have the same computer for up to 4 different bikes.
The mounting kits are about œ18 each and the computer is about œ30.

Fit a computer to each bike and you can use them to guage when to do maintenance. If you want to know how far you have ridden just add the two together.

Unless you use some very expensive computer it is not much more to buy another than it is to buy a fitting kit.

Also you dont go out on a ride with your computer left on the bike in the garage

Garmin guys - have you found a way of making Training Centre recognise your two setups as different bikes? I want separate mileage figures without the expense of a second unit.

I'm using the bike1/bike2 mode, however it only seems to confuse TC - It keeps asking me if I want to delete the existing profile, and use the new one on the unit.

I must be doing something wrong.
