I am looking into buying a tag-a-long type bike trailer for my 3 1/2 year old. She's getting a bit big for the trailer so I am looking to upgrade.
Anyone got any advice or recommendations?

I have used one of the Adams trailer bikes for the past few years. Good up to about 35kg passenger weight. Passenger now 7 and can ride well independently but still good for longer rides and she still really enjoys it.

Went for the folding model so it fits easily into boot of car and also went for single speed version as gears for 4-6 year old unnecessary.

The best ones (IMO) are made by Burley http://www.bonthronebikes.co.uk/454-19404-11 or Islabikes http://www.islabikes.com/bike_pages/trailerbike.html. They're a fair bit more expensive, but because of the way they fit to a rack on your bike, they are much better balanced. And they're not as prone to leaning sideways as the seatpost-mounted ones.

If I were you and could afford it I'd go for the Islabikes one.

The other option is a trailgator. http://www.trail-gator.com/ . This means that the child can ride on her/his own and get a tow when they are tired. They're pretty easy to set up, well thought out, and you can get them online for œ40.

I have looked at the Islabikes model and, while it looks the superior bit of kit, none of my bikes can take a rack! So unfortunately I'll have to look elsewhere.
I was hoping to buy a folding model but I had also decided on gears - just to help her learn (in a year or so).
Thanks anyway to both of you.
