    Please don't assume that this is typical of Minneapolis - I lived there for 7 years, averaged over 1,000 miles per year on my bike, much of it commuting, and never had any cycling (or other) problems with the police. In fact the only time I ever spoke to one about bikes was on a sportive, and he was kindly providing marshaling services in his free time.

    Compare that to the guy on another sportive who saw that I was having mechanical problems (inner tube blew and took my tire with it), stopped his pickup and gave me a ride the couple of miles back to the nearest aid station (in the opposite direction to where he was going). At first I assumed he was part of the SAG team, but it turned out he was just a local.

    This incidence just shows that some policemen don't deserve the power we give them, and that's true in the US, UK and everywhere else.
