First commute

I did my first ever commute yesterday (Twickenham - Windsor) 23 miles each way, and it felt fabulous. My office doesn't have showering facilities though so I did think I might smell a bit sweaty, but none of my colleagues mentioned it, they were too much in awe of the fact that any human can possibly cycle so far - and want to!![:D]

Anyone have any tips for freshening up at work after a commute?

Well done - that's further than I'd even think of commuting.

At work, splash on some water, towel down, deodorant and, of course, fresh clothes. Better still, persuade your work to put in a shower.

I'm impressed! I'm currently kakking it slightly at the prospect of raising my commute from 15 miles to 21 or something, one way.

I'm grappling with 12 and a bit at the mo

back in the day at my peak I was doing 15.5 miles each way, even after a year of that I still felt tired by Friday and it used to get boring, even being through the heart of London on a nice route

best of luck with it all

Use a packet of baby wipes to freshen up after a ride,Make sure you cool off properly first otherwise you just carry on sweating!!!

I'm pretty lucky with the route, follows the Thames most of the way, so it's thankfully very flat, and mainly back roads - although I've noticed the back roads tend to turn into rat runs early in the morning.

Apologies for duplicating the 'freshening up at work' thread, didn't see TheJollyJimLad's post until after.

Excellent , welcome to this wonderful world. Sounds like you have a nice route there.
I live in Kingston , and have considered going to Windsor and back as a pleasure/exercise ride.

With that sort of mileage you must have great legs, no wonder you were so persuasive at teh police station the other day!

I reckon the route makes a huge difference, the lights and the hills burn me, I've already tinkered with my route to avoid the last mile at the end of the journey home that's potholes, bumps, speed bumps and a couple of mini roundabout at the end of steep hills, made a huge difference psychologically at least for the last few miles homeward bound knackered

the idea of a level and fairly continuous route sounds like heaven, savour it
