I clocked up 1000 miles on my bike computer speedo thing on the way home yesterday. Dead chuffed to see 1000.00! Just thinking about it is making me feel tired, I need another beer [:D]

  • I'm coming up to 1000 on my new bike. Must put it on odometer to make sure I get the same buzz.

Pity we can't brag about it at home, eh?

Took me till mid March to knock up 1000 miles on my commuting bikes, (I retired one just after this). But when the weather was bad I'd use this for 30-50 mile leisure rides too. I cant remember of hand what it is on the 2 other bikes.

If I had a baby elephant, who would take it for walks?

    Hi,

Not bragging here but over the past 5 years I've clocked up 4400 miles commuting, firstly on a nasty 'Halfords Special' [:I], now on a Specialized Sirrus [8D].

My point being that I have only saved around 4400/30 * œ4/g = œ580 in petrol!

But I have become a lot fitter, arrive at work in a fresh state of mind and leave the office at the office when cycling home. [:D]

BTW - the halfords bike when I picked it up 'ready to ride' after their "technicians" set it up was vvank. At the first junction the brakes, both front and back, failed due to cable slippage and the handelbars were loose [:(!]

Apologies to the "proper" commuters on the forum that do many miles a day but I can't help it if my work is so close!!!

But I do do it in all weathers

    Phil

Well Done all Of You!! [:)] It doesn't matter how far you commute, what matters is you're doing it on a bike.

I know the fuel saving costs seem pretty paltry but I look at it the other way around as well. Given the amount of potential energy in a gallon of petrol were it converted to food a cyclist could go over 1000 miles on it.

Firm handshakes, manly hugs, and virtual cake all round [:D][:D]

2600miles since end of March. I have my comp reading in Km, it was coming up to 4000Km on tues night - I was going to watch it click over from 3999 - 4000 then forgot! 'twas gutted when I realised. Oh, well, should hit 5000km week after next.

the worst bit is if you reset your computer every January 1st.

Sooooo depressing but the miles soon clock up.

we've got a bit of a leaderboard at work, how many trips to work and miles we've clocked up so far this year, and this guy was one trip off 1000 when... he crashed into the back of a car on his 998th mile. [B)]

he's ok tho but i think his bike's a write off so hard luck on him and great luck to me, coz i'm gonna beat his ass to 1000 now! [:D]
