I have never had an aluminum frame repainted.I have had steel frames powdercoated and a carbon bike painted but never done an aluminum bike.I am having a nice older hybrid redone as a surprise for my daughter and was wondering what people suggest. Also what is the best way to deal with a few very small dent or dinks on the frame?

I'd take it to a paintshop or engineering gaff to see how much to get it nylon coated, or similar. Far more durable than paint for cycle frames.
If the dent is insignificant and doesn't require repair for structual reasosn, then the careful application of car body filler would be fine, or even liquid metal, which would also allow chrome plating if that took your fancy.

    Good luck.
