    read Sheldon Brown

    take it slow

if you can have a built up wheel of the same pattern (for example 32 spoke 3x cross) alongside you so you can copy the under/over lacing pattern

take it slowly and think about things a bit

when it's laced up (but before tensioning) put a drop of oil on the nipple/rim junction (not nipple/spoke). It'll make tensioning and truing much easier.

You MUST stress relieve the spokes as they bed in.

don't over-tension the wheel; it's much easier to wind in half a turn of tension after you've test ridden a wheel than it is to correct one where you've cracked the rim eyelets through over-tensioning.

    have fun.

Even though it's built on CXP 21's I can't see this wheelset lasting very long. Lookit them crossovers!!!

Yes, Sheldon has it all there in a way even I could follow. He suggests using a spare crank as a crossover stress-reliever and, having tried one, it is indeed ideal for the job.

I find I can get wheels round, true or correctly tensioned but not all three at once. Persumably that will come with practice.

Read the Roger Musson on-line book, it's all there.

Patience - little and often - check twice and act once. Make sure that the edges of the spoke holes are well rounded to prevent stress raisers and use a rubber mallet to bed the spokes at the hub.

Yep, that's the one I've been using, too. Great book.

I too used the Musson and it is good. What's your frustration level?

    Cheers,

Spent most of the evening just lacing the figedty thing up.

Maybe I am sad but I found truing really relaxing[;)]
