Is there a general rule as to how much shorter top tube you normally require for TT bike as opposed to normal road bike?

My bikes all have top tube c-c of about 55cm, do I need a smaller frame or is the reach normally acheived with shorter stem?

Ask these guys - www.timetriallingforum.co.uk for a general rule of thumb.

Fit is not so critical on a TT bike as the position can be adjusted with different sized stem's and seatposts etc.

Go to a bike shop that specialises in road and TT Get them to measure you and then recommend a frame size. Then buy the one you both feel is ideal. There is NO accurate rule of thumb You need to be fitted properly and then with the help of you dealer fiddle with the position over the next few weeks.
