Today I finally got my hands on the new stead - a big thanks to Freddie, Richard and Michael at Race Scene for sorting out the Somec Titano for me. Enjoy the pics

    Thats an awesome looking bike

If I had a baby elephant, who would take it for walks?

quite lovely looking bike Rik, it all comes together very nicely, but how the hell do you get your mitts on the brake levers when riding in the drops?

Oh crap. That's just a question of priorities - more cycling time.

You could hide a baby elephant in my back lawn at the moment, but I don't own one. Anyone have a spare?

  • Wastelander, nice bike, but out of curiosity, how the hell did you get your bike to stand up in the top 2 photos. As i see no supports lol.

Nice looking Italian Wastelander, I was thinking of a Somec Titano myself recently, albeit the carbon seatstays of course. Shame about the Shimano but still, each to their own. Did you find the guys at Racescene good stuff?

SIZE IS EVERYTHING! or at least that's what my LBS tells me.

Thanks for all of the positive comments - I must admit I love just looking at the new bike...though riding it is much more enjoyable. As for the groupset being Shimano - I was previously an MTB rider and my Shimano LX/XT stuff has never let me down so when I moved to road riding I stuck with what I knew. Most of the groupset (chainset, front mech and shifters) came off my CAAD5 which was totalled in an RTA a couple of weeks ago and I replaced the wrecked 105 rear mech with an Ultegra and upgraded the Tektro 105 copies to Ultegra calipers at the same time. Reaching the brakes isn't a problem as I'm very much a MTB 'two fingered' brake guy - perhaps I just have long fingers?!?! In the top pics the bike is held up by two green garden plant stakes up against the left hand crank.

The guys are Race Scene are simply brilliant - from inital fitting through to frame and component selection, final assembly and delivery nothing was too much trouble for them. They are more than willing to pass on advice to anyone who cares to ask from selecting the most suitable frame to the best track pump. They don't force their own preferences onto you and make you feel as if you are the most important customer that they have and they really do know what they're on about.

Finally, on garden related matters, sod the lawn - there are roads out there that simply need to be ridden and what better bike to ride them on!

One more turn of the wheels...just one!

Nice bike, mine has Dura-Ace throughout as well as Fulcrum R3s like yours. Looks like it should be a sweet ride [:)]
