Company have finally sorted out the ride to work scheme, its with Evans, and from what I've read this Bianchi is supposed to be really good from what I've gleaned from CP magazine.

Anyone got one- and more importantly got any opinions?
If not any 'Evans sold' suggestion for what should I go for in the œ1100 category...?
I've got a Cannondale R500 at the mo- which I've loved, but want to take a step up the ladder !
Cheers

A quick thought. Have you checked the details of your scheme. Most (but not all) have a œ1,000 limit with no top ups.0

Nice bike, but I wonder if you are going to use it as a ride to work bike maybe you consider mudgaurd clearance and fittings, as well as the other practicalities.
If you're just using it as a cheap loan to get a decent bike, and you have more than a one bike option then go for it. You wont be dissapointed.
Celeste is best

Its a really nice bike and got a good review in C+ the only problem is its too popular now and there may be a delay in getting you're hands on it. Bianchi are also making bikes badged as Ducati which is adding to their assebly line delay. My self I still wanted a Bianchi and opted for one of their C2C models.

I'll top up the extra ton myself, the Evans scheme allows it.
Think I'll go for it, as far as Ride to work goes, I currently drive 90 miles a day as a commute, I'd love to be able to cycle it, but there are 2 probs;
a- I pretty much am dead after 35 miles
b- as far as I know they wont let us cycle on the M25 yet.
As it was me who put the scheme forward to the company, my only wish now is that I'd told them to set it up with CycleSurgery so I could get a Wilier....0 -

How do you go about applying to get a bike from the scheme if you can't use it to commute, or are you planning to cycle 45 miles each way? I'm in a similar boat in that I want to join but currently drive 35 miles each way to work. However the scheme does say that qualifying journeys do include cycling to the station, etc. I currently car share with a friend and eah of us drives on alternative days. Because my mate lives 5 miles close to work than me I leave my car at his house when we go in his. I could cycle to his and back and use this as a " qualifying journey".0 -
I was looking at getting this bike through our scheme. Do you know if you can get it with a compact chainset, from what I can see only the campag equipped bike comes with a compact and the shimano with a standard double only? I think a standard double is a bit over-geared for me at the moment.0

Well I'm not sure who checks how you're getting to work ?
The Bike Shop dont care,
Those administering the company scheme dont care
The Govt cant check- hope not anyway...
I'll be using mine whenever I have to back to head office. (15 mile round trip)
Is doing this slighlty questionable morally- hmmm maybe...
Is it a great way of getting a new bike...yes.0 -
Hi - I've just purchased the veloce version at œ1000.00 and love it. Funny enough, I was given the model you are interested in for a weekend's test drive. Its a great bike, but I preferred the campagnolo set up. The shifters in the campagnolo just felt better for me.
My bike is black, and the shop used celeste tape and a saddle to give it that classic Bianchi celeste look!
