OK after much diliberation I'm looking at getting a choice of:

Orbea Orca
PLanet X carbon
Ribble Carbon
Wilier Mortirolo

I have a budget of around œ1500 but can spend more if it demanded it.
Whats everyones Veiws on the final selection?

Rhino's are the new Elephant
Baby Elephants - free from artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives

Pay attention as I'll say this only 10 times [:D]:

Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo
Wilier Mortirolo

I absolutely love mine, test rode a few different bikes but the Mortirolo blew the competition out of the water. It's light, fast, responsive and climbs like a goat (and it looks fantastic).
I'll get flamed for this but here goes - test ride the Wilier and if you like it, buy from Comobike as you'll save a lot of money which you could put towards a better wheelset. Perhaps buy the wheels from your LBS to keep them happy. [;)]

• So if it was a choice between the Madone 5.0 Ultegra
Trek Madone 5.0 07
Frame: OCLV 120 GSM round tubes
Forks: Bontrager Race Lite Carbon
Gears: Shimano Ultegra front and rear derailleurs
Shifters: Shimano Ultegra STI
Chainset: Shimano Ultegra with 53/39 tooth rings or
Chainset: Shimano Ultegra with 52/39/30 tooth rings.
Brakes: Shimano Ultegra
Wheels: Bontrager Race Wheelsystem
Tyres: Bontrager Race X Lite folding
Handlebars: Bontrager Race
Stem: Bontrager Race
Saddle: Bontrager Race
Seatpost: Bontrager Race X Lite Carbon

Or the Planet X:
Ultegra Alta Race Carbon - œ1499
Full Carbon frame with Planet X full carbon deep bladed 370g fork.
Shimano Ultegra STis, mechs, cassette and chain.
FSA SLK CARBON MEGA EXO crank and External Mega Exo BB.
Planet X Superlight team bar
Planet X 3d Forged stem
Planet X Carbon seatpost
Planet X Superlight Team Ti saddle
Tektro R750 carbon brakeset (black)
Reynolds Alta Race wheelset and Conti GP4000 tyres
2 x Carbon bottle cages!

Are there any differences in the spec that make it a clear cut decision?

And if not which would it be, and why......?!

Well one's a Trek and one isn't. [;)]
I'm assuming the Planet X is a compact, on that basis i'd pick the X if I had to choose between the 2.

Orbea orca- frame alone is œ1600 pounds. My brother has one and to spec it out correctly it will cost between œ3000-œ3500. Nice bike though

I've not ridden one myself but from the list you have I think the Wilier is by far the classiest looking bike of the four.

There is NO choice, it HAS to be the Wilier, as Jashburnham has told you and I'm tellin' you, just make sure you find the extra œ200 and get the Centaur Gruppo model. The R7's are OK and they'll get you where you want to go and pretty fast too, but I will change mine when I can afford to as I don't like black wheels, I thought it may have come with the red ones, but no!

Anyway no real problem as the bike is just sooooooo gorgeous, I grin like a cheshire cat, and change gear for no apparent reason[:o)] just so I can hear that Campag groupset sing!
Mortirolo,Mortirolo, Mortirolo,Mortirolo....

• "And the fact PX is British"

HOW exactly? Surely not a single component on it is MADE in UK. Assembled and that's about it! I'd still choose the PX, but not for that reason!

• Dave, aha, I think your the person on here I was looking for an answer from, I'm interested to know why you would choose the Planet X over the Trek??

I have no affiliation or prejudice to either, from a purely outsiders point of view, the Trek is the name I am familiar with, so what's the crack as they say?
