Decathlon Sport 2/3 bikes
Hello all,
I've heard good things about these bikes, and rang a shop yesterday to get some current prices.
The 2 they are selling for œ279, and the 3 is reduced from œ499 to œ369, which seemed rather a good deal (But I think they had limited sizes), but then that is the 05 model apparently.
Does anyone own either of these bikes?
The other thing is I'm driving over to France on Saturday, so intend to have a look in a Decathlon store over there, to see if the prices are any better, has anyone else done the same thing?
Website is rather poor unfortunately, this is the best I can do on spec etc:

Cheers

They're much cheaper in France.
Decathlon bikes are generally great value for money. I got a 7.1 for œ140.

Thanks for your reply Paul,
I think they have replaced the 7. range with the Sport 1/2/3 range perhaps?
That's very good news, I shall have a look in one of the stores when I go over there.
Cheers

In the last C+ mag, Decathlon were advertising the 'B-Twin' Sport 2 and 3. Same spec as the old Decathlon bikes. May have re-branded them, as B-Twin provide bikes for a Pro-Team?

Dan, I received the offers folder from Decathlon yesterday (it's on my desk in front of me), and in France, the Sport 2 is marginally cheaper at ?400 (œ270) and the Sport 3 is the same price at ?550 (œ370). So unless they have a very special offer for these two in a local shop, it wouldn't be terribly worth getting one there - especially as you'd lose the right to your free first service etc.
This is not always the case, and as Mr. Paul says, they are generally a fair bit cheaper in France than in the UK. Maybe it's an exchange rate thing? They both look very good value anyway.

Yes, they've rebranded them, which is why you can sometimes still pick up a decathlon branded one cheaper than an identical Btwin branded one sometimes.

Uncle Mort!
Thankyou very much!
I have just rung the store in the UK that has the 05 Sport 3 in stock, and they only have a 57CM frame left, and I think I need a 54CM, so no go there, the new bike will be œ469 when it comes out here, so it appears that maybe the Euro version will be œ100 cheaper, which isn't insignificant to say the least.
I liked the look of the Yellow/Silver Sport 3, could you tell me, from your brochure, what the colour is of the new model please??
What do people think of the general spec, reasonable for a starter bike??
Are the carbon forms at this price good, or a gimmick?
Does the groupset look ok?
Cheers

the decathlon bikes are good value. the fork is not a gimmick. neither is the rear triangle which comes in for not much money.
my friend got the sport 2 which has xenon GS for 270. amazing value.
