Many forum peeps coming to London for the Tour?

Just wondering how many people are coming to the Smoke for the prologue etc?

And would it be lame to suggest a "Race" meetup?

I'd be happy to try and meet up with a few of you guys. I'll definitely be coming in for one day, hopefully more if I can sort out somewhere to stay.

If I had a baby elephant, I'd fit right in here.
  • I'm venturing down for the Prologue and Stage 1.

Also considering a trip to either the Alps or Pyrenees (as I noticed some suitably cheap flights) to see the Tour, as I'm at a bit of a short end in July.

Probably won't happen, but it's nice looking at websites and thinking about it [:D]
  • I'm thinking of taking my bike on the train and riding in from somewhere...but somehow I think I wont have the time / holidays to do it

Delighted to meet up with everyone, but you're gonna have to fill in one of my forms[}:)]

Did you get planning permission for that sense of humour bypass?

Definitely be there for the prologue and in Kent the next day for stage 1. Wouldn't miss it for the world!

    Oh yes!

Friday - team presentation in Trafalgar Sq
Saturday - volunteer marshall at prologue
Sunday - watch Le Grand Depart with my (bike mad) three year old son

    Should be an awesome weekend.

I'll be there for the prologue, problem for me will be keeping my 10 & 7 year old daughters interested.
  • Yes, but don't tell my dad (birthday pressie for him :D)

Six of us from East Yorkshire are planning a weekend in London from Friday until Sunday evening to experience the TdF in London style. It should be a good weekend with some nice food / drink and watching some bike racing as well.

Someone's just offered me a press invitation for the opening ceremony. But it's the day before the prologue. I bet there won't be anyone there except liggers and promotions people.

I'll be heading over. I booked my friend's spare room as soon as the start was announced. Also have a booking in for the Olympics in 2012!

I'm there - shelled out a small fortune to stay at Brent Cross Holiday Inn with Mrs McBain and mini-McBain. There for Friday, Saturday and will also depart on Sunday [:D]

I'll be there. We can have our usual arguments over a can of scrumpy or summat. Although that said, we do agree a worrying amount these days.

Any of the far east massif using the Tour as an excuse to go home to blighty for a bit?

One of my best mates is getting married that day - in Liverpool! I've pointed out he needs to shift the date, that I really need to be in London, that it's his 3rd marriage (true) so it's unlikely to work anyway!! (even more true) but guess what ......... he (and his next missus) have chosen to ignore me!

I tell you, they'd not be getting wed on a day when there's a home game at Anfield!

I've still not replied to the invite but I know which way it'll go, and I won't be in London for the tdf (sob, hey ho, but it'll be fun and I'll leave my wheezy old VHS recorder set for when I get back home)

After doing the Brighton stages, the Dublin Prologue back in 98 and trekking over to see finishes and stages in France and Italy it would be silly not to come down for this !
  • Definately! I've taken the Friday off to come and see the team presentations as well. Is that actually worth going to though? I've never actually seen Le Tour in the flesh so don't really know what to expect?

    It's ALL about the bike.
