Wanted: really big rack bag

Hi,

I'm after a really spacious rack bag for my daily commute. I initially tried Altura panniers, but my frame is slightly undersized, so my heels knock against the bags. The guy at the cycle shop advised that no combination of racks and panniers would work for me because of the size issue. Only other thing I can think of would be a rack bag, but they're all quite small, 10 litres tops, from what I can see.

Does anybody know of a kind of rack bag that's more on the order of 30+ litres? eg The size of a decent-sized rucksack.

Try a carradice saddle bag - they go up to almost 30l I think.

I use a Creak 2 Peak rack pack that is 30 litres. It holds just about everything bar the kitchen sink.

Thanks for the suggestions. Do you know where I can pick them up, online? I didn't see anything that big on Wiggle, which is the sight I've mainly used so far.

Any chance you could measure it for me, width, depth and height?

How does it attach to the rack, is it secure, does it feel secure, and is it easily removeable, or once fitted, forever fitted?!

Any chance you have some pics of it on your bike?

jkos - the link that Charlotte posted is one place to buy it, if you google 'cordura rackpack' or similar, and go to products, you will see some online shops that sell it - JE James have it for œ35, but don't know how the postage compares.

A guy at a cycle shop told me the same thing about my folding bikes, but it isn't really true. With panniers with a full length rail, I found you can move them quite a way back.


I bought a Creek2peek bag (I cannot quite tell from the link if the one in the add might be any later though) so I could fold the bike with the bag still on it.

It attaches via velcro straps, and but it isn't secure or stable when it gets full / heavy so needs bungee assistance. It is easier / faster / better off the bike and just about as stable to simply bungee a rucksack to the back of the rack.
