100+mile taking in Lowther Hill (Dumfries)

Hi there - I've ridden this great hill a few times on repeats but would love to know of any recommended long routes that take it in. I'd like the hilliest possible, on quiet roads with good tarmac (no wind, 24 degrees and blue skies too; oh yeah, and no sheep either) - round about the hundred mile mark, or more, up to 120 miles. I live in Edinburgh and can easily drive down that way to start.
(Training for the Marmotte in case this request sounds mental!)

Cheers in advance

Sancho

Where is it ? Near Lowther village/estate/wildlife park just south of Penrith ?

Time to dig-out the Summer bike (why's it just started raining ? Is it something I said ?)

Sorry - should've made that clear. It's the Lowther Hill, Dumfries and Galloway. Just west of the M74. Great cycling country; I'm after some long route recommendations which are as hilly as poss on the best roads.

Sorry I can't help re a route as I am not too familiar with the Dumfries area, but you may be able to find one here:

  • There was a Sportif there in May. The link below has the route. 82 miles but easy to extend. The second half is hardish to follow but if you're keen eyed the painted arrows are probably still visible on the roads. The sting in the tail at Tynron after 75 miles is an acquired taste - but be careful on the descent.

Why the name? Like the Hobbit I don't shave my legs
