I'm thinking the north side of the lake in the park, nice big bank should give you a view even if you're not at the front........

That sounds like a good spot, I don't know London very well at all so any advise is good advise.0

Thats a good place as you are also near big screens and the peoples village. Another good place mabe at the bottom of Constitution Hill as you may see them go both towards Hyde Park and then ontowards the Mail. Again you'll be near toilets etc.
If cycling is free why does it cost me so much buying the nick naks0 -

Will you be quiet and stop telling everyone - I keep having to adjust what time I get up that morning............ or maybe I'll just sit there overnight????
The riders will be cutting across the front of Buck Palace and the Victoria monument is to be reserved for the press but if you get there and find a space you'll see them on the way out going past BP and up Constitution Hill and coming back down and into The Mall.
The problem is, I get there early and find a good spot with my bag of food and drink.......... what happens when I need the loo?
Oh and I won't be riding in, I mean where would I put my bike?

Surely somebody knows a pub that is on the route that would fulfil both our input and output needs ?

The good thing about a prologue (or any TT) is that you don't have to take a chance and pick just the single spot, like you would have to in a normal stage where the mass of riders shoot past in a couple of seconds. You actually have time to wander round and try different vantage points.
Behind the start can be quite an interesting spot, watching the riders warm up, the acknowledgements (or blanking) of riders to each other, final moments before the start.

Would it be possible to watch the race from the Buckingham Palace side of Constitution Hill & not the Green Park side ?
And what do you think the crowds will be like in London that day. Do you think it will be like watching the TDF on the Champs Elysees ie jam packed and once you get a half decent spot thats it you dont move, ive been to a few TDF prolouges and found it very easy to just wonder around and find serveral spots over the afternoon.0 -
Anyone know where the teams will be based. I'd like to stalk around the buses before the off, maybe see some of the pros up close warming up.

Interesting options. It'll be a longish day all in, so I'm not going to pick a spot and stick with it. Best to wander about.
But this ain't the Tour of Britain, where only the final 200m had tightly packed barriers.
My big fear is that it's going to be rammed three deep all the way round. Complete mare.0 -
Can I recommend all you non London residents stay at home and watch it on the TV
We don't want your sort here- think of it as a dry run for the Olympics when you can also stay at home infront of the TV
22nd March can't come soon enough, neither can 26th May 2007
