One chain tug, two bikes

If I turn left out of the house, the road leads to flattish landscape and is ideal for fixed. If I turn right, I need the granny ring after a few gear changes and then it's triple world. I want a steel audax frame, probably 853 or so, with track ends so I can ride fixed. Then I saw this -

- a Chain Tug/Mech Hanger. With the track-end audax, I could use it as a fixed or swap it to a triple gear with a few alterations [:)] plus the chain tug, couldn't I? First reaction - can you really be so R-ssed to do this? Well, hypothetically in theory yes. My question is - will the chain tug let me convert between fixed and geared?
Another option is to have two bikes with track ends eventually so that one can be set up geared, but I don't want geared drop-outs for conversion to fixed. Each bike might eventually be fixed permanently if I can get fit enough for the hills. Has anyone done this with the chain tug/mech hanger?

I'd be interested in this too. I'm looking to get bike that I could run as fixed/singlespeed and geared and if this chain tug/hanger is a practical solution it'd be good to know.

Bit of a faff removing (or securing) the gear cables when you wanted to go fixed.
And if you did the frame would look odd with the gear cable guides still there.
Couldn't you just get a fixed rear wheel made up with one fixed cog and the right spacers (for the perfect chainline) so you could swap it for the geared wheel and have your favourite fixed gear by using the inside chainring and bypassing the rear mech althogether?

If I had a baby elephant signature, I'd use that.--
