What is the white stuff on my seatpost?
I was under the impression that carbon seatposts and titanium frames should not react. I was surprised to find that when I took my broken Specialized Pave carbon seatpost out of my titanium Merlin frame that there was what appears to be some kind of white residue stuck to the post (easily removed) and also on the inside of the seattube (more difficult to remove).
I had expected the inside of the seattube to be plain titanium finish as it had been when I put the post in. I didn't grease the post by the way.

I think some titanium frames have an aluminium shim in the seat tube to get the size right, which would explain the problem which is normal in aluminium frames.
Then again,I could be wrung!!0
