Anybody know any good rides from Grand Bornard. Ideally, about 80 to 100 miles with quiet roads and a few cols.

My head office is in Annecy, and I have to work there occasionally ... such a pain.
You have a good selection of Tour cols around you, the Colombiere, the Croix Fry. And there are a number of marked (well, semi-marked) routes, which you can see at: http://www.savoiehautesavoie.com/cyclo_ ... hp?Rub=328. There's a pdf of each route, with a rough grading and profile.
I've done the Tour des Glieres, which was rather nice.
BTW. There is also a sportive that starts in Grand Bornand (Le Grand-Bo, http://www.legrandbornand.com/index.jsp?a=81563&c=18085), you could try one of those routes. It's one of my ambitions to get over there and do this in the next year or two.0 -

Many thanks for the reply. Shame about having to work in Annecy occasionally but I suppose somebody has to do it [:)]
I will definitely ride over the Colombiere and will try the 125km Grand-bo route. The sportive event is a couple of weeks before I arrive otherwise I would have entered it.

Make sure to post your impressions of the Grand Bo route. I'm pretty sure the full route is out of my league at the moment, but we're probably spending a week's holiday in the area in September and, if I get a day off, I might be tempted to try part of it.0

I'm so jealous!, was there a couple of years ago, great place, great atmosphere, great cycling. enjoy.

George,
I'll be in the Annecy area at the start of September if you want somebody to ride it with.0 -
Hi Pirahna,
Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. The dates aren't set yet, though, so I can't guarantee anything, I'm trying to coordinate work and play. But it's more likely to be the second half of September. I'm booked to do the Trans-Cambrian (my first sportive ...) on the 9th.0
