Moving from MTB to road :-)

Hi
I am going to purchase a road bike soon and I am concerned about a couple of things. Can I ask you nice people for your opinions about :
1) I am considering purchasing either the new Charge Plug or a Kona Paddy Wagon. My first concern is about the slope of the top tube. Being an MTB rider I am used to an upward sloping top tube from back to front, the Kona has this but the Charge appears to be a downward slope. I am wondering if this will dramatically effect my riding position? I am used to riding with my seat and stem at the same height on my MTB if this helps?
2) I have large size 12 feet and I am concerned about the front of my shoes rubbing on the front tyre because of the steeper head tube angle and the larger wheel size. Is buying a large frame size to compensate for my boat feet a solution?
Thanks for reading all this. Any comments of experience are very warmly appreciated.
Thanks
Marcus

Don't know about the two bikes you mention, but I've got size 12 feet and have no problems with toe overlap on a 58cm Trek. My heels are very close to the chainstays though, so you probably need to watch out for that too.0

The ammount of slope on the top tube makes no difference as your saddle will still have to be raised to the same height relative to the bars. Your saddle and bars are positioned relative to the bottom bracket so whatever shape the frame is is of no consequence really as long as you are able to get these three things in the correct position to you.
Don't buy a large frame to remove toe overlap, buy the right sized frame. All my road bikes have toe overlap, if you can't live with it just buy a road bike with geometry that doesn't give you this problem. It's less of an issue with road bikes though as you're usually travelling at a speed where steering that sharply is not possible anyway.

Yeah my toes overlap with my front wheel and I've never had any problems. When you turn on a road bike it's all about leaning into the corners and this means toe overlap isn't really an issue.

Can be more of a problem if your riding fixed.

you've got to be really leaning on a fixed to ground the pedal.

We're not talking about grounding, we're talking about overlap.
