Help: Loose spokes...

Have just given the bike a clean prior to tommorrow mornings 100miler.
However, have found out that a couple of my spokes have loosened.
Never tightened a spoke before. And I don't have a spoke key.
Can this be done (carefully) with pliers? Any other tips.
Many thanks.

If I were you I would get somebody who knows what they are doing to do it for you. My one and only attempt to adjust spokes on a wheel turned a wheel with a light buckle to a major buckle like the ones thst clowns have on their bikes.

you'll round off every spoke with pliers. not a good thing to do
i would wait till tomorrow and see if anyone you are riding with has got a spoke key.
but then again you say you've never tightened a spoke!

I've done it with pliers - Steve's right, you can round them off two times out of three; more importantly you won't be able to get them terribly tight.
