It would appear that the loose cassette (9 speed shimano 105) is due to me either not receiving/throwing away the 2mm spacer that comes with the Aksium rear wheel. I don't suppose anybody out there is using a 10 speed shimano set up and happened to keep the 2mm spacer??

Please let me know!!

  • Sorry, 9spd with spacer.

    Good luck!

    p.s. Quality wheel choice

I got some Aksiums while back without a spacer and used an old 12 "tuth" sprocket from uniglide cassette, seems to work fine

I had this problem: fitted the cassette and it rattled around all over the place. Scratched my head and then idea of spacers dawned on me. Checked the blurb and sure enough and spacer is included for 8/9 speed cassettes. I went through the bin and found this rather pathetic silver ring of plastic that looked just like that stuff you used to push out the airfix parts from. That is what you need and it is very very easily overlooked.

well, yes and no......but mainly no.

Could you make one out of a plastic lid from chinese takeaway container? A couple stuck together might just work.
