Anyone done this ride?
Anyone know what the total ascent/hill profile's like?
Just debating whether to stick to my regular Box Hill ride, or bother to rearrange my shifts and drop in for a look.

Have done this ride a couple of times and it is a nice ride around some beautiful countryside (and also v.convenient for me to get to!!)

There are two 'significant' hills plus some short ones. Main ones are up to Brill and then Ashendon (which is not a nice hill). Doing a rough course in Bikely it looks like approx 1900 ft of climbing over 50 miles.

Cheers Rich - Not used bikely much - is it easy to find - what should I search for?
Hmm... 1900ft - Might have to find a couple more big hills - I guess I could use it as speed training!

No problem - bikely can be found at www.bikely.com

re:hills - you could always do Brill twice from different angles!

You most certainly could! There are 4 possible climbs to Brill - the TdV 50 use the easier of the 4 and departs Brill on what would be a short but vicious climb in. There's also the Brill Rd climb (which I live at the base of) or there's the loooong climb on the Thame Rd. We can arrange modifications to the route so you visit each several times and throw in Muswell Hill which the route skirts around if you really like! [}:)] [:D]

Hope you enjoy the ride if you make it over. Welcome to <b><i>"my" </i></b>training roads! [8D]
    I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.

I like the route up the Thame Road to Brill - long with some steeper bits about 3/4's of the way up (don't you love them false crests).

As a local, I normally do the down and up from Stone through Eythrope, across to Chearsley then do the down (very fast) and up (very painful) between Chearsley and Chiltern, up the long climb to Brill, down through Oakley & Worminghall, through to Long Crendon (with the vicious but short climb) then down and up to Chearsley, through Cuddington and then off home to Stone.

I've been avoiding Ashendon recently but plan to give it a damn good go on the TdV.
