What bags do people like to use? My trusty cheapo halfords pannier has decided to routinely fall off my bike occasionally, so I figure it's time to spend a bit of money on a bag with better clips. But not too much.

at the moment I'm thinking one of these:

any cop? For clothes, a bit of work, occasional gym kit.

Don't know that specific one, but I have a pair of smallish Altura rolltop panniers, and they serve me pretty well for all sorts of stuff - at various times they hold my horse riding kit (helmet, chaps and whip), allotment stuff (small tools, veg, kitchen-caddy compost bucket), everyday tools and waterproofs, shopping, and when I go away, my touring luggage. I don't think they were pricey - I've had them for a few years and they are holding up well.

If I had a baby elephant, it could help me clean the car. If I had a car.

That's a rude word recumbent riders sometimes use for normal bicycles. Aka ass hatchets, weapon of ass destruction, etc. LOL!

(I like riding my wedgie as much as my 'bent).

I use a pair of the altura urbans, 40 litres a pair. They also tuck up quite small when they are empty, and expand to hold a ton of stuff. Really good quality.

I used to use one of my ortlieb paniers, for their waterproofnesses, but have now bought the cheaper Lidl version. The Lidl ones dont have locking rack clips, but I do the straps up so that they hold them on.

Since building a fixie, I've prefered using that, and as it has no panier rack, I use a courier bag. Yes I know i'm a fashion victim[:I]

"PANNIERS. Bags which have been modified to be attached to a bicycle for the purpose of carrying approximately 50% more than you need. Similar to a purse. When shopping, look for panniers with a large capacity and don't buy them, as they just make your bicycle heavier."

Have done the cheap pnnier thing but after a few scarey pannier in spokes incidents I bit the bullet and bought a Carradice SQR tour for my regular commute which is supplemented with a large Timbuk2 messenger bag when I'm taking post into work. Bought SQR off ebay for about œ40 second hand, but it was and still is like new. Bought Timbuk2 from States and saved about œ20 on UK price even after paying postage and import duty. These bags look and feel like they will last forever.

Anti gravity bottom bracket. Cuts down on tyre wear but its a bugg3r when you have to brake for traffic lights ;-).
