MY PRESENT COMMUTE IS 14 MILES EACH WAY, WITH THE ODD FIFTY MILE SPIN ON MY DAYS OFF. MY ARSE HAS BEEN NUMBED BY A LOOKIN ROYAL GEL SADDLE FOR THE PAST 3000 MILES OR SO AND I MUST ADMIT I'M A BIT TIRED OF IT.
I CAN'T DECIDE WHETHER TO GO FOR ANOTHER GEL SADDLE SUCH AS BODY GEOMETRY OR A LEATHER SADDLE - BROOKS B17 LOOKS ABOUT RIGHT.
ANY OPINIONS? I'M NOT TERRIBLY WORRIED ABOUT WEIGHT, OR FASHION.

  • i'd go for the b17, i was loyal to all things fizik and still use them but i threw caution to the wind and bought a brooks...amazingly comfortable, your bum will reward you in due course!

  • Although nearly deafened by your post, I managed to get as far as the word <s>"gel"</s> "GEL".
There's your problem. Your sit bones sink into the gel and all sorts of areas that shouldn't be in contact are in contact.

I know how you feel mate - after a bum numbing 50 miler on saturday i returned home and immediately ordered a brooks b17. hopefully it will arrive very soon. They seem to be very highly regarded on this forum. I can only remember one person saying anything negative about them.

Bob the Dog should get together with dangerousjules and that way we might get some proper use of capitals...[;)]

I've had a B17 on my Galaxy, once broken in, it was very comfortable. To take the sting out of the initial period, I used a gel cover over it. (The Galaxy is currently in bits, awaiting a respray and rebuild)
