Helmet advice please

I need a new helmet for road and xc use after my crash wrote my Giro Athmos off. I am very interested in the Met Parachute as I am at the moment making do with my Spesh Deviant which although it is very good, is just too hot to survive the British Cyclosportive in July BUT I want a full face helmet. I only kept my teeth because in the fall my hand got between my mouth and the ground.
Has anyone got a Met Parachute / knows about it from a wearing perspective? I am pretty sure I will get one, just hoping someone knows something about it, like what its safety rating is? Is it Snell?
Thanks
Jacomus

There are a number of helmet tests of which Snell is the most stringent. Most importantly they test the helmets offf the shop shelves - so they are exactly what you are wearing. Only Specialized sell a "Snell rated helmet" in the UK.
THat is misleading though - Giro (for instance)refuse to acknowledge which standards their helmets pass, and they are not listed on the Snell Foundation site. All they will acknowledge is the EN1078 which allows their UK sale.
You will find a review of the Met here
As a separate issue, it would be cheaper to use Giro's crash replacement policy than to buy a new helmet. I believe you contact the importer (Madison) and arrange for the damaged helmet to be sent back, they then offer the replacemet at a reduced price.

Thank you Cunobelin, I have thought about the crash replacement policy, but decided really I want to go for a full face.

You'll be too hot in a full face on the road.
why not buy a new road lid and a separate XC lid?

If you look at the www.smf.org and select "Certified helmets" you will get a full list.
